COURSE PRESENTATION
We are currently witnessing a digital revolution in healthcare, in which, in recent years, health solutions (devices, applications and digital platforms) have multiplied, providing greater capacity for capturing and integrating data. This reality presents itself as a huge challenge for health professionals, who need to develop their skills in this field and contribute to the promotion of citizens' digital literacy.
Diabetes is an excellent example of an area of health that has benefited from digital transformation and the need for integration and involvement of health professionals, citizens and information technology professionals, with a view to improving health outcomes.
This course will allow the development of skills in areas of great relevance to clinical practice and to support the training and self-efficacy of people with diabetes/caregivers. The course modules are integrated with a view on continuous process of learning and adapting knowledge to real life.
As such, the course provides a comprehensive view of digital health in Diabetes, Digital Health Literacy and communication between the health professional and the user/caregiver within the scope of technology, as well as the state-of-the-art of digital health in Diabetes type 1 and type 2.
Supporting themes will also be discussed, such as: health promotion through social media, privacy and data protection, and ethical aspects of digital use.
