COURSE COORDINATORS
Hugo Trindade (MD)
COURSE PRESENTATION
The course allows for a full immersive UGRA simulation experience through four ground-breaking modules: Cadaver models - nerves, plexuses, its trajectories and surrounding structures will be subject of in-depth knowledge acquisition.

Live models - the key sono anatomical landmarks along with tips, tricks and pearls of high value basic blocks will be taught.
Phantom laboratory - organic and inorganic materials can be utilized by the participants to build an appropriate phantom that will allow a low-fidelity training.

Standardized simulated scenarios - allow participants to develop a management approach to UGRA-related complications and reinforce all desired non-technical skills.

Each module focuses on hands-on scanning and needling practice, performance assessment and instant instructor feedback. Gamification is an added feature, transforming this course into a healthy competition that will foster additional motivation and provide camaraderie and communication improvements.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The course is open to all anaesthesiologists and anaesthesiology residents
LEARNING OBJECTIVES >> KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO DEVELOP
  1. To correctly identify the main anatomic structures (upper limb, lower limb, thorax, abdomen) mandatory to perform the taught regional anaesthesia blocks.
  2. To correctly identify the main sono anatomic structures (upper limb, lower limb, thorax, abdomen) mandatory to perform the taught regional anaesthesia blocks.
  3. To adequately describe the blocks practiced on living models, namely the scanning, nerves pathway and ergonomic issues.
  4. To be able to create low fidelity simulators that are helpful at hand/eye coordination and needling practice.
  5. To be able to approach and manage the most common emergencies and complications of regional anaesthesia, as well as acquire the mandatory nontechnical skills
ADMISSION CRITERIA
  • CV and motivation letter
  • Preference will be given to international and national Consultant Anesthetists and then to residents
