COURSE PRESENTATION
This an intensive and interactive course for gynaecological surgeons, namely OB/GYN residents and specialists who have already achieved some competency in gynaecological laparoscopy, and who are interested in optimizing strategies and improving skills, to performing laparoscopic gynaecological surgeries with different levels of complexity.
Cadaver training, due to its anatomical equivalence with real surgery, is an important component of surgeon training before starting complex surgeries in the operating room. In this course, trainees will become familiar with the relevant pelvic anatomy, training dissection of the lateral and retroperitoneal pelvic wall, dissect the major pelvic vessels and nerves, dissect the sacral promontory, training gynaecological procedures (hysterectomy, adnexectomy, vaginal cuff closure, colposacropexy) and learn how to deal with some of the most common laparoscopic complications (such as repair of bladder and bowel injuries).
It is an imminently practical course, in which for each topic there will be a trainer explaining the steps of the dissection or procedure and at the same time the trainees, distributed in 2 to 3 for each cadaver, execute the planned. The aim is that by the end of the course, students can have acquired the fundamental knowledge to perform such procedures in real surgeries, in a safer and more effective way.
